Keep in mind, not ALL of our adoptable cats are special needs, and some special needs cats function almost exactly the same and have the same needs as any “Normal” cat. We save special needs AND at-risk cats, so we have a variety of cats available. At-risk cats may sometimes have even more needs than some “Special Needs” cats do; like needing extra 1 on 1 attention with a person, more time to gain trust, specific home atmosphere requirements (like no small dogs), or maybe even don’t like being handled/picked up. None of these cats are what you would call “Feral” however and ALL of them prefer to be around/live with humans inside a home.

Adoptable Special Needs Cats:

(^ MUST BE ADOPTED AS A PAIR)

All Adoptable Cats:

Thunderbolt aka “Thundey”

Status: Adoptable to an experienced cat owner! (Spayed and has shots!)
Sex: Female
Age: Young Adult
Size: Small
Eyes: Yellow
Coat: Tortoiseshell
Breed: Domestic Short Hair (aka cat mutt)
Special Needs: None!
Other Needs: Can be shy/skittish at first interaction, and does not like being handled

Thunderbolt is shy at first but once she gets to know people she becomes quite friendly! She loves to play and even knows how to run on a cat wheel! She has a hilarious habit of talking to herself while playing and will even do it while holding a toy in her mouth. She plays well with other cats and is extremely talented at making ridiculous faces with her intense eyes and markings that highlight her cute smile. Thunderbolt has two sisters we are still working with to improve their temperaments (they are currently very shy and don’t do well being handled). She usually doesn’t like being picked up but is decent enough at being handled that it shouldn’t be a problem for the vet’s office. She absolutely loves pets and will sometimes “steal” them from other cats. Her sisters are Jane and Spitfire. We call them the Fighter Plane family as they like to rocket around the house like little fighter planes and two of their names are also names of Fighter Planes. She’s healthy and all up to date on her shots!

Zorak & Trouble (Lifetimers)

Status: Adoptable only as a pair to  local owners only! (Both are spayed/neutered and have shots)
Sex: Zorak- Male | Trouble- Female
Age: Zorak- 7 yrs | Trouble- 4 yrs
Size: Zorak- Extra Large | Trouble- Medium
Eyes: Zorak- Blue | Trouble- Blue
Coat: Zorak- Short haired seal lynx point | Trouble- Short haired snowshoe
Breeds: Zorak- Ragdoll mix | Trouble- Siamese mix
Special Needs: Zorak- Pica (will obsessively suck on small parts of stuffed animals) | Trouble- Very Mild Siamese Nystagmus

Zorak and Trouble must be adopted together. They love each other too much for us to let them be seperated!

Zorak is an enormous ragdoll who is very friendly and loves to be pet. He has an adorable musical meow and will sometimes respond to you if you talk to him. He is serious about playing and will go nuts for a laser, feather toy, or a battery powered toy. He loves people but will sometimes be shy around new ones at first. He also loves laying in sunbeams, caring for kittens, and CATNIP. Zorak gets along well with most all cats and even does well around dogs. Zorak has a beautiful cinnamon roll shaped marking on his side, a distinctive tabby “w” marking on his forehead, and stunning silvery blue eyes. His eyes are slightly crossed which just kind of gives him an extra cute expression. Because of his Pica, if you have stuffed animals in your house, you will have to keep them away from him if you don’t want them to get damaged, otherwise he is a perfectly normal cat. Zorak is also Space Ghost’s brother, a lifetime resident of Rocket Cat!

Trouble is quite shy at first but when you get to know her, she absolutely loves pets and attention. In contrast to Zorak, she is a small cat. She really needs someone that can give her lots of individual attention and love. When she gets upset she will rely Zorak for support. She doesn’t like most other cats but absolutely loves Zorak and can often be seen snuggling him. She has an adorable tiny squeaky meow and will sometimes respond when you talk to her too!  She also has a habit of secretly begging at inanimate objects like soft things, prosciutto, and occasionally a toy she cannot get to. Trouble has beautiful seal pointed siamese markings mixed with white and an extremely soft coat. She also has stunning sky blue eyes which she loves to STARE at people with. Trouble is related to multiple cats here at Rocket Cat: she is Nux’s litter sister as well as Pixel & Bianca’s younger (step?) sister! We call them the Potato family because they are good at becoming small potato colored potato shapes.

Both of them enjoy their bellies being rubbed, unlike most cats, and aren’t really picky about where you pet them. We love them both very much and would like them to go to a house with experienced cat owners. Neither of them mind being picked up much and are easily handled. The’re both healthy and up to date on their shots!

Jane “Doe Eyes” Doe aka Jane

Status: Adoptable to an experienced cat owner! (Spayed and has shots!)
Sex: Female
Age:  Young Adult
Size: Small
Eyes: Yellow
Coat: Short Haired Torbie (Tortoiseshell x Brown Tabby)
Breed: Domestic Short Hair (aka cat mutt)
Special Needs: None!
Other Needs: Can be shy/skittish at first interaction, and does not like being handled

Jane can be shy at first but absolutely loves being around people and watching them. If she were to be an only cat she would probably become a consistently friendly girl. She is wary of pets at first but then she will start to beg for them once she realizes they’re just pets. She is very motivated by food and treats! Like her sister, Thunderbolt, she also knows how to use a cat wheel and will do her cat wheel “work-out” multiple times a day. She loves cat toys and play in general whether it be with humans or cats. She has an extremely soft coat which at first appears to be brown tabby but on closer inspection you will notice her beautiful patches of orange all over! She has adorable doughy round yellow eyes and an extremely sweet face. Her sisters are Thunderbolt and Spitfire and we call them the Fighter Plane family as they like to rocket around the house like little fighter planes!! She does not like being handled, and will probably require a more experienced owner as a result or to someone who is okay with owning a cat that won’t let you pick her up easily. She’s healthy and all up to date on her shots!

Spitfire aka “Spitty”

Status: Adoptable to an experienced cat owner! (Spayed and has shots!)
Sex: Female
Age: Young Adult
Size: Small
Eyes: Yellow
Coat: Short Haired Tortoiseshell
Breed: Domestic Short Hair (aka cat mutt)
Special Needs: None!
Other Needs: Can be shy/skittish and aloof and does not like being handled

Spitfire has stunning markings and is very petite. She almost looks like she was designed by someone with her orange forelimbs, cute little white paws, white chest, white tipped tail, and beautiful facial mask markings. She is very shy and is wary of pets at first but when given, she does enjoy them! She is slowly coming around to being around humans more and more and is very curious of them! She absolutely loves other cats though and enjoys playing with them and cuddling them. She is very food motivated and will even stand for treats if you ask her to! She does not like being handled, is VERY fast, and will hiss a lot if you try to pick her up (which is how she earned the name Spitfire.) Because she doesn’t like being handled, she will require a more experienced owner or need to go to someone who is okay with owning a cat that won’t let you pick her up. She has very round eyes and is good at making hilarious “shocked” faces. Her sisters are Thunderbolt and Jane; together, we call them the Fighter Plane family. She’s healthy and all up to date on her shots!

Dragon

Status: Adoptable to an experienced cat owner. ALSO AVAILABLE FOR FOSTERING NOW! (Neutered and has shots!)
Sex: Male
Age: Young Adult
Size: Small
Eyes: Icy Blue
Coat: Snowshoe Siamese Seal Pointed
Breed: Siamese x Domestic Short Hair (aka cat mutt)
Special Needs: None!
Other Needs: Shy and Skittish, scared of small dogs, does not currently like being handled, and needs extra socialization/1 on 1 time.

Would be best alone! He needs a lot of one on one attention. He is very skittish and shy after an encounter with some small dogs. He has been having problems with urinating when handled out of fear ever since being adopted and returned. He could use some more socialization and we are also very open to fostering him or a foster-to-adopt situation with him!

Haggie

Status: Adoptable to an experience cat owner! (SPECIAL NEEDS) (Neutered and has shots!)
Sex: Male
Age: 1 Year
Size: Medium-Large
Eyes: Green
Coat: Marbled Brown Tabby
Breed: Domestic Long Hair x possibly Maine Coon (aka cat mutt)
Special Needs: Mild Ataxia and partially incontinent (Recovered from FIP)
Other Needs: Can be shy/skittish at first interaction

Shy at first but becomes a sweetie once he gets to know you! He doesn’t always make it to the litter box in time to poop, so he would need to live in a house with hardwood or tile floors and with someone willing to be patient with him. He doesn’t have a problem urinating in the box though. He would be best on his own and would probably get better at using the litter box if he were given more attention on his own.

Titan

Status: Adoptable Now! (Neutered and has shots!)
Sex: Male
Age: 1 Year
Size: Large
Eyes: Yellow-Green
Coat: Gray and White
Breed: Domestic Short Hair (aka cat mutt)
Special Needs: None!

Very friendly and loves attention. He is ready for a home and there are no special needs for this guy! He is a soft ball of love around humans, but can be bossy around other “extroverted” cats. As a result; he would do best either on his own, with one of his family members (Delta or Heart), or a more submissive cat that he gets along with. He is a giant HAM and will even lift his leg for belly rubs.. then stare at you hilariously.
